Spectrum.Life’s Specialist Psychological Services Team consists of a multidisciplinary team of qualified, accredited, knowledgeable, and experienced professionals who are passionate about supporting people to understand themselves and live happy, healthy, authentic, and meaningful lives.
 
Our Student Mental Health team continually strives to support student and their mental health with working collaboratively with our partner Universities to ensure, the safety and wellbeing of all the students.   We continually evaluate our practice through critical reflection and active seeking of feedback, and challenge neuro-normative thinking at every opportunity.
Role Brief:
We are seeking an SpLD Assessor to join our team to provide timely, high-quality assessments and psychological interventions for individuals using digital platforms. This exciting opportunity will be within our Specialist Psychological Services, where you will primarily be undertaking Learning Difficulties assessments with individuals that are 16 and older. The role requires working collaboratively with clients, to undertake comprehensive clinical interviews, diagnostic identity explorations, and provide post-identification collaboration with clients.
 
You will be responsible for writing up assessment reports in a timely and professional manner, as well as providing appropriate recommendations and interventions. You may be involved in individual therapy, group work, and consultations with families and other professionals.

You will have a good knowledge of working psychologically with individuals and those important to them, as well as expertise in the assessment and support of individuals presenting with a range of learning difficulties.

Additionally, a comprehensive knowledge of digital platforms and the capability to utilise them effectively, ethically, and safely will be essential.
Responsibilities:
  • You will undertake initial assessments with families and individuals to help identify the best assessment, intervention or support for their needs.
  • You will be involved in delivering high quality, clinically robust assessment and intervention.
  • You will have a caseload where you will be the designated lead practitioner, which will involve building a relationship with individuals and being the key person guiding them through their support journey.
  • You will collaborate closely with colleagues to ensure each individual experiences a thorough assessment and formulation of their strengths and challenges that informs helpful recommendations and a plan for next steps.
  • You will provide written reports detailing assessments you complete, presenting complex information in a clear and accessible way.
  • You will work in a way that ensures the safety and wellbeing of individuals and those that are close to them, following relevant safeguarding and risk procedures.
  • You will support the clinical and service leads with the day to day running of the service, including monitoring of feedback and outcomes in order ensure we are delivering clinically robust, effective and strengths-based assessment and intervention that clients are happy with.
  • You will help individuals to better understand challenges they may be experiencing and set and work towards their individual goals through intervention, support and coaching.
Requirements:
  • Hold a current Assessment Practising Certificate (APC)
  • Dyslexia qualification Level 7 SpLD or equivalent
  • Have professional indemnity insurance to the value of £1,000,000
  • Valid ICO Certificate
  • Enhanced DBS Check
  • Understand the DSA, as well as knowledge of current JCQ regulations
  • Be committed to using assessment approaches to help neurodiverse individuals overcome the challenges they are experiencing in education and other settings
  • Have some experience in using SASC guidance to complete specialist diagnostic assessments for adults and/or young people in Higher Education
  • Conducting specialist diagnostic assessments for adults and/or young people in higher education (HE).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a caring professional manner and ability to communicate effectively with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate a good working knowledge of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Safeguarding legislation. 
Desirable:
  • Experience of adapting mental health and other interventions for specific populations
  • Experience of providing consultation to others on mental health and wellbeing
  • Experience of delivering training on mental health and wellbeing
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision to others
