Role Brief:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Medical Director to lead our clinical team and oversee the delivery of our digital GP and primary care services. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical practice, including extensive experience in primary care and digital health environments. 

 

This full time role requires strategic leadership to ensure the highest standards of patient care, regulatory compliance, and continuous service improvement. Reporting to our Chief Clinical Officer, you will work closely with the Chief Medical Officer and Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) and GP Service Lead to align clinical strategies and deliver exceptional care.

Responsibilities:
  • Clinical Leadership: Provide strategic direction and oversight for all clinical operations, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and patient centred care.
  •  Collaboration: Reports to  Chief Clinical Officer and works closely with Chief Medical Officer, and ANP and GP Service Lead to align clinical operations with organisational goals and ensure seamless service delivery.
  •  Interdisciplinary Teamwork: Supervise and collaborate effectively with allied health clinicians, GP, Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs), and other healthcare professionals to foster a cohesive and multidisciplinary approach to care.
  •  Quality Assurance: Develop and implement clinical protocols and guidelines to maintain excellence in service delivery, adhering to the latest evidence-based practices.
  •  Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all services comply with relevant healthcare regulations and standards, including those set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and the General Medical Council (GMC).
  •  Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  •  Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the clinical representative in interactions with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, commercial partners, and patients.
  •  Innovation and Improvement: Collaborate with technology and operational teams to enhance clinical workflows, integrate new digital health solutions, and drive service improvements.
  •  Patient Safety: Oversee the implementation of patient safety initiatives, monitor clinical performance metrics, and lead quality improvement projects.
Requirements:
  • Medical degree with full registration and a license to practice with the General Medical Council (GMC).
  •  Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in primary care.
  • Proven experience in a leadership role within a healthcare setting, preferably within digital health or telemedicine services.
  •  Significant experience working in digital primary care or remote healthcare environments.
  •  Experience supervising and collaborating with GP, allied health clinicians and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) in a clinical environment and remote clinical environment.
  •  Strong understanding of healthcare regulations, clinical governance, and quality standards.
  •  Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage clinical operations effectively.
  •  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  •  A forward thinking mindset with a passion for leveraging technology to enhance patient care.
Desirable:
  • Experience in developing and implementing digital health solutions.
  • Familiarity with health informatics and data-driven decision-making.
  • Participation in relevant professional development programs, such as the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme or the NHS Digital Academy.
