Senior Technical Product Owner

About us:
Role Brief:
We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Owner to join our AI team at Spectrum Life. This is a role for someone who thrives on building — someone who identifies what needs to happen, takes initiative, unblocks the team, and drives tangible output. Our AI team operates as the innovation engine of the organisation: our mission is to help other teams work more efficiently by delivering AI-driven solutions, establishing sustainable processes, equipping stakeholders with the tools they need to operate independently, and then moving on to the next challenge. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define and document technical product requirements, prioritise features, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable, user-centric platforms.
As a key member of the team, you will own the product requirements and delivery lifecycle end-to-end, from initial ideation to final release. You will be responsible for the AI roadmap, deliverables, and tracking progress across all AI projects. A key part of this role is to own the non-technical design and decision-making: you will use tools like Claude to rapidly create first-draft prototypes, dashboards, and wireframes to narrow down requirements, validate ideas with stakeholders early, and translate those into well-defined user stories — so that by the time work reaches engineering, the what and the why are already resolved and engineers can focus purely on the how. You will own technical product documentation and functional requirements, working alongside product managers, solution architects, engineering, QA, and business stakeholders.
We value an ownership culture — you will be expected to own processes end-to-end, and where a process does not yet exist, you will create it. Critically, the processes you build must be sustainable: the goal is to establish them, hand over the tools and knowledge to the corresponding team so they become self-sufficient, and then move on to the next project. This is a hands-on role focused on what gets shipped and the impact it has. If you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and are passionate about translating complex needs into tangible outcomes, this role is for you.

Responsibilities:
Stakeholder & Requirements Management:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to understand and document their needs.
- Run focused workshops and discovery sessions to rapidly gather requirements — favouring quick alignment over prolonged meeting cycles.
- Create clear, comprehensive requirement documents, supported by diagrams (using LucidChart).
- Work with the Product and Architecture team to translate complex user journeys, workflows and business requirements into clear, actionable requirements including epics, features and user stories.
- Create high-level prototypes, wireframes, and mockups to explore and validate solutions with stakeholders before development begins — leveraging tools like Claude to rapidly produce first drafts of dashboards and prototypes.
- Own all non-technical design and decision-making — resolving the what and the why upfront so that engineers receive clear, unambiguous requirements and can focus on execution.
- Use prototypes to narrow down requirements, reduce ambiguity, and accelerate alignment between business stakeholders and engineering.
- Translate validated prototypes and business requirements into a well-defined product backlog with epics, user stories, and tasks.
- Own the team’s Jira project, defining the ticket structure, workflows, and configuration to ensure maximum clarity and efficiency.
- Facilitate design sessions with engineers to agree on a technical approach, and collaborate with the architecture team to review and approve the final designs.
- Ensure the outcomes of these sessions are converted into actionable Jira tickets.
- Own the tech product backlog: prioritise features, enhancements, and technical debt based on value, risk, and effort.
- Act as a delivery manager by overseeing the end-to-end lifecycle of features in Jira, from initial ticket creation to production release.
- Keep track of project progress against deliverables, and manage release schedules and versions within Jira.
- Own and lead the product/project backlog creation, grooming, and product demos; ensure timely delivery of features with high quality.
- Act as a key stakeholder in release planning, go-to-market strategies, and post-launch support.
- Create and distribute clear and comprehensive release notes for stakeholders after each deployment.
- Drive the project forward through focused check-ins and sprint ceremonies — keeping meetings short, outcome-driven, and only when necessary.
- Own and maintain the AI product roadmap, ensuring it reflects business priorities, team capacity, and strategic goals.
- Track deliverables across all AI projects, providing visibility to leadership and stakeholders on progress, risks, and dependencies.
- Establish and maintain reporting mechanisms (dashboards, status updates) to keep all parties informed on roadmap execution — using Claude to draft and iterate on dashboards quickly.
- Proactively identify gaps, blockers, or misalignment across AI initiatives and drive resolution.
- Take full end-to-end ownership of product and delivery processes — from requirements through to release and retrospective.
- Identify where processes are missing, undefined, or inefficient, and take the initiative to design and implement them.
- Build sustainable, well-documented processes that enable the receiving team to operate independently once handed over.
- Equip stakeholders with the tools, training, and documentation they need to own the process going forward, freeing the AI team to move on to the next initiative.
- Continuously evaluate and improve existing workflows to increase team velocity, quality, and predictability.
- Create and maintain living documentation for our projects and systems.
- Champion the use of AI tools — particularly Claude — across the team to automate repetitive tasks, draft documents, generate first-version prototypes and dashboards, and make everyone’s work more efficient.
- Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, UI/UX design, data insights and clinical teams to deliver high-impact digital health products.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or Delivery Manager in a tech or AI-focused team.
- A builder mindset — you default to action, figure things out independently, and are measured by what you ship rather than what you present.
- Strong technical background with the ability to translate business requirements into actionable user stories.
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements from diverse stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban) and the software development lifecycle.
- Expert-level knowledge of Jira (or equivalent) for structuring projects, workflows, and releases.
- Experience creating process flows and system diagrams using tools like LucidChart.
- Ability to create high-level prototypes, dashboards, and wireframes using AI tools like Claude to validate ideas and narrow down requirements before engineering begins.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
- Proactive ownership mindset — you own processes end-to-end and build new ones where none exist.
- Experience owning product roadmaps and tracking deliverables across multiple concurrent projects.
- Genuinely passionate about AI and actively using tools like Claude to automate workflows, draft prototypes, and make your own and others’ work more efficient.
- Clear thinker and writer, capable of producing documentation that leaves no room for ambiguity.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with healthcare regulations, data privacy laws, and clinical workflows.
- Experience with Salesforce Service Cloud and Health Cloud Implementations.
- Understanding of UX principles.
- Passion for improving healthcare outcomes through technology and innovation.
- Track record of using AI tools like Claude to rapidly produce first drafts, prototypes, and dashboards that accelerate decision-making.
